Seneca Earth Day Celebration

April 20

9am-12pm   BioBlitz (Parkside) – Join Rural Action and MWCD for a fun and educational event for nature enthusiasts of all ages! Explore the park’s biodiversity by identifying and documenting flora and fauna on the iNaturalist app with assistance from knowledgeable experts in trees, fungi, wildflowers, birds, insects, and more! Meet at the Welcome Center.

10-11am      Signs of Spring Guided Hike (Parkside) – Discover the Lakeside Trail and search for signs of spring! Meet at the Log Cabin. Be prepared for a 1.5-mile hike on an asphalt trail.

12-2pm        Earth Day Clean-up (Parkside & Marina Point) – Stop by the Welcome Center or Seneca Lake Marina Store for gloves and trash bags, then pick-up map for areas for litter throughout the park & lake! Bring the bags back and receive a coupon for a FREE night of daily camping!

12-2pm       Tree Giveaway (Parkside) – Do you have a spot for a tree?! Stop by the Welcome Center to pick up free saplings! Red oak, white oak, and white pine saplings will be available on a first come, first served basis. Planting and species information will also be available at the time of pick-up. Ready to be taken home and planted!! Sponsored by the MWCD Conservation Department.

3-4pm Tree Giveaway & Tree Craft for Kids (Marina Point) – Meet at Marina Point Shelter #2 to make a tree craft and pickup a free sapling or two. (See tree giveaway description above)
